hydroforming study - 2023
this project marks my first experimentation with tig welding. as I explored the many possibilities that came with this new skill I became entranced with the process of hydroforming.
hydroforming is a metal forming technique which requires solid welds and the attachment of a plumbing fitting. finally, the entire object is hooked up to a air pressure line and inflated like a balloon. this process Is full of trial and error, and requires a continuous action of welding, forming, and re-welding in order to get the perfect form.
materials - 20 gauge steel sheet metal, plumbing fitting, tig welding, air pressure line
